Tip 1 - If you are single it’s time to get professional!

You’ve got a great career, great friends and a busy life. In fact the single life suits you just fine.  But is “just fine” really enough for you? Do you realise how much better life could be if you actually made some effort with your love life? Relationships are one of the most important influences on your quality of life and fundamental to us as human beings.  So why is it we don’t put the effort into finding a relationship that we put into other essential activities like finding a job or our careers?

At Making Advances we recommend you take the same approach with your love life as you do when taking a step up in your career. It’s time to get professional!

Be proactive and take action. Get out there and meet some people, even if you don’t meet an ideal partner you might meet some interesting people who could introduce you to their social circles. Just like business networking playing the numbers game works!

Work out your requirements. You are much more likely to meet the right sort of person for you if you simply identify what sort of person you want to meet; work out what values, attributes and personality they need to have.  Just like when applying for jobs it’s important to be honest about what you want and not to sell yourself short. People have a magic way of showing up once you’ve defined them!

Do your research.  In the same way you would research companies that suit your career path find events, social networks and singles nights that fit your profile and that of your ideal date.

Be prepared. Just like an interview or a vital meeting it is important to be prepared in advanced for a singles or social event. The best way to do this is to be relaxed and just be you. There is no point in putting on an act or trying to be something you’re not as you won’t be able to keep this up in the long run.  To get you in a confident mood write a (long!) list of your attributes before going out so you can remind yourself of what you are bringing to the table!
